The government's statutory channel for disaster relief. By law the fund may be spent only on rescue, treatment, relief, rehabilitation and infrastructure restoration, not on administrative costs, and its accounts are audited annually.
The donation portal is operated by Nepal Clearing House Ltd (NCHL) on the government's behalf and carries the national emblem. Paying through the portal avoids typing an account number at all, which is the single biggest source of misdirected disaster donations.

Released CHF 1 million from its Disaster Response Emergency Fund on 26 August to fund the Nepal Red Cross response and damage assessment. Donations here flow to the same operation.

A registered US non-profit that vets its local partners and publishes where money lands. Its dedicated Bhote Koshi fund had raised US$621,000 of a US$1.5 million goal by 3 September 2026. A reasonable route for donors outside Nepal who want a receipt and an audit trail.
This outlives the Bhote Koshi flood. Run it on anything asking you for relief money.
Open the organisation's own website by typing its address, or go through the government portal directly. Never start from a link in a forwarded WhatsApp or Viber message, a Facebook comment, or a QR image someone sent you.
Red flag: A link shortener (bit.ly, tinyurl) in a relief appeal. Legitimate funds do not need to hide their address.
Before confirming a transfer, your bank shows the registered name of the receiving account. For an official appeal it must read as a government office or a registered organisation. If it shows an individual's name, stop.
Red flag: A personal name, or a business name unrelated to relief, on an account collecting 'for the flood victims'.
eSewa, Khalti and IME Pay personal wallet numbers are not how the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund or the Nepal Red Cross collect money. Institutional collection runs through bank accounts and the official portal.
Red flag: A mobile number given as the donation destination.
Real relief funds stay open for months. Urgency is the core technique of the disaster scam, because it stops you checking. 'Send tonight', 'matching ends in one hour' and 'only 20 spots to sponsor a family' are all pressure devices.
Red flag: Any time limit at all on a donation.
For a page or an individual you have not heard of, look for the organisation in Nepal's Social Welfare Council register, or ask for its registration number and check it. A genuine INGO or NGO will supply it without argument. For crowdfunding pages, check whether the organiser is named and whether prior campaigns exist.
Red flag: An account created within the last week, no registration number, or evasion when you ask for one.

Start from the organisation's own website rather than a forwarded link, check that the receiving account name shown by your bank is a government office or registered organisation rather than an individual, refuse any deadline, treat personal eSewa or Khalti wallet numbers as a refusal, and ask for a registration number you can check against the Social Welfare Council register.
